Your Questions, Answered

Dear Access Point,

When can we expect our Spectra Optia to be upgraded to version 12.1?
— Allan in Columbus, OH

Dear Allan,

The new software v12.1 will be available once we conclude final field testing, which should happen this summer. At that time, you will receive a letter from your Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies representative, who will work with you to schedule the upgrade during your next preventive maintenance service.

Please be aware that once the software is available in North America, you will have 18 months to complete the upgrade. We will then discontinue support for prior versions of Spectra Optia software. For more details on the update, please see this issue’s feature and click the v12.1 Customer Letter link in the Resource Spotlight below.

Did You Know?
There are almost 3,000 Spectra Optia systems installed in the U.S. and Canada, with the first one installed in the United States 17 years ago. But did you know that the system was designed to have a service life of 10 years after the date of manufacture? That is based on normal service conditions, use, and maintenance.

That means routine cleaning and product maintenance service checkups every six months are a great way to keep your device going strong — and reduce the risk of potentially costly repairs as your device ages.

To make maintenance easier and help keep your Spectra Optia device functional and compliant, we offer service contracts through our Veda™ Check program. To learn more, contact us.
